Lake Region School Cuts Almost $16k in Energy Bills

Lake Region Union High School, in Orleans, Vermont has used efficiency to achieve a dramatic reduction in its energy bills. Lake Region, along with four other schools from throughout the state, took part in the Whole School Energy Challenge, an innovative project that was piloted in the 2011-2012 school year by Efficiency Vermont, the Vermont Energy Education Program, and the School Energy Management Program of VT Superintendents Association. The goal of the Challenge is to engage students, faculty, and staff at participating schools by providing them with hands-on education about energy efficiency, and hard data about their energy usage, along with impartial guidance on what they can do to improve efficiency in their facilities. The results are in - and ten schools have signed up to participate in the Challenge during the 2012-13 school year.
